Technological water innovations will be prioritized based on their Technology Readiness Level and their suitability for the water challenges currently facing China, as identified by the China Europe Water Platform and supplemented with recent developments identified during this project. This prioritization will be based on expert judgement. After prioritization, an inventory of up to 20 technological water innovations (TWI) for each of the five thematic areas listed below will be produced.

The comparison across the five thematic areas will be categorized as follows: (1) established technology solutions available both in the EU and China; (2) established technology solutions available in the EU, but not in the China; (3) similar innovative solutions available in both the EU and China or joint EU/China innovations providing solutions; (4) innovative solutions available in the EU, but not in the China; (5) innovative solutions available in the China, but not in the EU; (6) no innovative solutions available in neither the EU nor China. In all cases, specific attention will be given to the Technology Readiness Levels of innovation.

It is expected that the outcome of this final task in WP2 will be an inventory of up to 10 technological water innovations or water challenges with a potential for future joint developments for each of the five thematic areas.

A further outcome of this work package includes a report on European technological water innovations with potential for application in China, and a list of water challenges identifying opportunities for joint development of technological solutions.
